Perceptual Positions
Perceptual Positions is an incredibly versatile tool that can be used in many different ways. In this example, I explain how to use it as a technique for supporting Expectations but it can just as easily be used to develop an understanding of Personal Power, Accountability and many more behaviours by simply changing the frame of reference for the 'positions' in the activity.
There are at least three ways in which someone can look at a situation, experience of communication. These are called the first, second and third perceptual positions. The most effective leaders will use all three positions and this is a powerful way of developing empathy for another person and increasing the breadth and flexibility of thinking.
